Newport Beach Film Festival Celebrates the Grand Opening of Island Cinema

Special Benefit Event Featuring a Screening of "Young Adult", Followed by a Celebration at True Food Kitchen

By Gregg Schwenk

The Newport Beach Film Festival celebrates the official grand opening of Island Cinema, Fashion Island's new state of the art theatre complex on December 13th with a special benefit event featuring a screening of Young Adult, followed by a celebration at True Food Kitchen.

Young Adult is a comedy-drama film about Mavis Gary (Charlize Theron), a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn't quite gotten over high school, either.

Directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody, Young Adult stars Academy Award winner Charlize Theron (Monster, North County, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers), Patrick Wilson (Insidious) and Patton Oswalt (The Informant!). Distributed by Paramount Pictures, Young Adult will open in theaters on December 16th, 2011.

Tickets are $50 and available online at: http://www.NewportBeachFilmFest.com or at the door.

The event is 21 years old+. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Newport Beach Film Festival, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. For information visit www.NewportBeachFilmFest.com or call (949) 253-2880.

The 31,300 square foot Island Cinema has been transformed into an upscale, state-of-the-art theater that offers a premier movie-going experience. Theater patrons are greeted by a spacious, luxurious lobby with a classic Italian look that reflects the recently completed reinvestment of Fashion Island.
